Charter Member

In 2022, Kira joined forces with Emily Hoffman and became part of The Barking Project. Long before officially joining the rescue world, she was already the person pulling stray dogs off the streets, finding fosters, and convincing friends and family to “just meet one dog.” If you know her personally, there’s a very good chance you probably have a rescue because of her!

Outside of rescue, she has spent the last 15 years working in the home health field, where she has built her career around caring for others. Kira is deeply devoted to making sure elderly patients feel respected, supported, and cared for during every stage of life. She truly loves working alongside Dallas hospitals, physicians, case managers, and healthcare teams to help patients receive the care and resources they need to heal safely at home.

Kira cherishes her family, loves her friends like they are family, and believes that life is best spent surrounding yourself with people (and animals!) who make your heart feel full. She’s also a very proud mom of five fur-and-feather babies: a rescue German Shepherd, an energetic Belgian Malinois, my adorable Yorkypoo (who she adopted at The Barking Project 2025) and two rescue birds.

If there’s one thing people quickly learn about Kira, it’s that her life revolves around love, loyalty, and rescue. She believes in showing up for the vulnerable, fighting for second chances, and proving that kindness still exists in this world. Her mission is always the same: save lives, spread compassion, and make the world a little softer for those who need it most.
