Emily Hoffman
President, Co-Founder
Emily is the President and Co-Founder of The Barking Project, which she launched in 2022 after volunteering at Dallas Animal Services and witnessing the heartbreaking reality of countless adoptable dogs and puppies being euthanized due to space constraints. Motivated to make a meaningful impact, she set out to reduce euthanasia rates in Texas shelters and raise awareness that incredible dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, and temperaments can be found through local shelters and rescues.
As a staunch advocate for adoption, Emily believes every animal deserves a loving home and the opportunity to provide a family with unconditional love. She is passionate about educating the community about the realities shelters face, including overcrowding driven by increased owner surrenders, and works to dispel the misconception that shelter animals are anything less than exceptional companions. Her dedication to animal welfare is deeply personal; she began volunteering after the loss of her beloved rescue dog, Oliver, and later adopted her current rescue dog, Margot.
Professionally, Emily is a Senior Vice President at Colliers, a commercial real estate firm, where she specializes in office tenant representation. With more than 18 years of experience, she leverages her extensive market expertise to help clients navigate complex lease renewals, relocations, expansions, and consolidations. Her leadership extends to the broader business community, having served on the boards of NTCAR, ULI, and ICSC. Additionally, she recently founded the DFW SMU Alumni Women in Business group, which provides professional support, collaboration, and networking opportunities for fellow Mustangs.
When she isn’t negotiating office leases or fostering kittens, Emily enjoys playing frisbee and exploring the DFW area with Margot. She also cherishes time spent with her nieces, Nora and Sarah, who are proud supporters of and active volunteers for The Barking Project.
